Shaler Area Titan Field
The Titan Stadium project totaled more than $3 million and included replacing the running track surface and installing FieldTurf artificial turf on the playing field, as well as installing new lighting. The completed project will allow for more sports teams and community groups to utilize the facility and provide an improved track surface for community and school use.
The contracts included: TPK (site construction) in the amount of $1,284,650, Plavchak Construction (electrical construction) in the amount of $398,400 and FieldTurf USA, Inc. (synthetic turf construction) in the amount of $429,314.
The site preparation started in June with removal of the existing sod and track. In August, crews completed the site preparation work for the field and event areas, including the long jump pits and throwing event sectors, in preparation for the artificial turf installation. Crews finalized the installation of the FieldTurf artificial turf on the field, including the addition of the infill, at the beginning of September.
Titan Stadium and the field were ready for the varsity football team’s first home game on September 30, 2016. Allegheny Mineral’s Worthington and Princeton plants provided material for the project including 2A, #57, #9 and #1.
