The award identifies the Graff/Worthington Quarry as the safest medium operator surface mine among industry peers in the region. This is the fourth year in a row that an Allegheny Mineral quarry has been awarded this honor. Allegheny Mineral Corp., a subsidiary of Snyder Associated Companies Inc., announced the purchase of substantially all the operating assets of Quality Aggregates Inc., a Pittsburgh based aggregates producer. With the addition of three key locations spread strategically throughout western Pennsylvania, Allegheny Mineral has added long-term aggregate holdings with significant limestone reserves. Allegheny Mineral Completes Base for Future Home of XTO Cryogen Facility

KITTANNING, PA., Apr. 27 – Allegheny Mineral’s Worthington plant recently completed a project in Penn Township, Butler County for Mountain Gathering LLC, which is a subsidiary of XTO Energy, a gas and drilling company in Wexford, which in turn is a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil. The project required over 35,000 tons of stone for a pad which will be used in the construction of a cryogenic natural gas processing plant. Cryogenic processes are commonly used to extract natural gas liquids (NGLs) from natural gas. Basically, the cryogenic processes consist of dropping the temperature of the gas stream to around -120…
