Slippery Rock Quarry Garners National Environmental Recognition
KITTANNING, PA., March 20, 2014 – Allegheny Mineral’s Slippery Rock quarry was awarded the 2013 Environmental Excellence and Community Relations awards from the National Stone, Sand, and Gravel Association (NSSGA).
Dennis Snyder, Allegheny Mineral President, noted that the awards are indicative of Allegheny Mineral’s commitment to being a good steward of the environment and a positive influence in the community. “We’re honored to be recognized nationally for our environmental and community relations efforts.”
The Environmental Excellence award program recognizes aggregate producers that are actively contributing to the maintenance of the environment in and around their operations as evidenced by a corporate commitment to the exemplary use of environmental controls and systems that exceed technical environmental and regulatory requirements.
The Community Relations award distinguishes aggregate producers whose community involvement and support activities demonstrate clearly that an aggregate operation can be and, indeed is, an asset in any community and that the individuals who manage and work at aggregates operations are both good neighbors and responsible corporate citizens. Companies across the country are able to compete for this award.
