Allegheny Mineral Recognized as Industry Shining Star
KITTANNING, PA., Mar. 17 – The National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association recently announced the Gold, Silver and Bronze winners of NSSGA’s Safety, Environmental and Community Relations Excellence Awards. These prestigious awards are presented annually to aggregate producers throughout the United States and Canada, in an effort to recognize operations in the aggregate industry for their pursuit of excellence. Those recognized truly represent the best within the aggregates industry and are applauded for their superior performance as environmental stewards, extraordinary commitment to safety, community involvement and support activities that have enhanced the image of the aggregates industry.
“Every day, our members continue to show their commitment to the industry and their communities in promoting safe working conditions, recognizing the importance of environmental stewardship and maintaining outstanding community relations. These awards demonstrate their important contributions to a sustainable America,” said NSSGA President and CEO Joy Wilson.
“Our winners have every reason to be proud of their achievements,” said NSSGA Chairman of the Board Dave Thomey, executive vice president, Maryland Materials, Inc. “I congratulate each of these operations for their commitment to outstanding corporate citizenship and support of their communities. They remind us of the important role the aggregates industry plays in ensuring a greater quality of life in America.”
The Environmental Excellence Awards program was created in 1992 to provide national recognition for aggregate producers that meet and exceed technical, environmental and regulatory requirements. Producers nominated for this award must show that their operations are actively contributing to the maintenance of the environment in and around their operations as evidenced by a corporate commitment to the exemplary use of environmental controls and systems. Allegheny Mineral Corp. is pleased to announce that the Slippery Rock Quarry has been selected as a recipient of the 2011 Bronze Environmental Excellence Award.
The Community Relations awards program was begun in 1989 to recognize aggregate producers whose community involvement and support activities enhanced the public’s perception of the aggregates industry in general and the public image of the individual producer’s aggregate operation in particular. NSSGA firmly believes that an active community relations program is the best way for an aggregate producer to demonstrate clearly that an operation can be and, indeed is, an asset in any community; and that the individuals who manage and work at aggregate operations are both good neighbors and responsible corporate citizens.
The ultimate goal of the Excellence in Community Relations award program is improvement of the public’s perception of both local crushed stone, sand and gravel operations and the aggregates industry by generating positive media exposure. Allegheny Mineral Corp. is pleased to announce that the Worthington (Graff) Quarry has been selected as a recipient of the 2011 Bronze Community Relations Award.
The Safety Excellence Program was created in 1987 to promote safe working conditions and practices and to recognize, on an annual basis, individual operations with exemplary safety records among NSSGA member companies. Allegheny Mineral Corp. is pleased to announce that ALL of our operations were selected as 2011 Safety Excellence Award winners.
